1XTech® TYPE P CABLE Marine Shipboard Manufacturers Data Specifications, NEC Marine Cable, Amps, Price/Cost per foot, Armored / Unarmored

1X Technologies Marine Type P Cable is engineered and manufactured for electrical installation and use in harsh environments such as offshore and onshore drilling rigs, Marine Shipboard, and other Wet Rated Maritime applications. Type P Cable stands for Type “Polyolefin” Cable.  A polyolefin is a type of polymer with the general formula (CH2CHR)n where R is an alkyl group. They are usually derived from a small set of simple olefins (alkenes). Dominant in a commercial sense are polyethylene and polypropylene. Type P Cable has cross-linked polyolefin (XLPO) Insulation and a cross-linked polyolefin (XLPO) Jacket.

What are Type P cables primarily used for? Typically, Type P Cables are used for marine electrical applications in extreme environments such as extreme cold, extra high heat, constant vibration or shaking, drilling, mud, mechanical stress, and salt corrosion that require unquestioned reliability. When reliability on your drilling rigs must be certain, it is necessary to have quality IEEE 1580 Type P wire and cable for your project.

1XTech® extra-flexible and ultra-durable IEEE 1580 & 1EEE 45 Type P cables are designed for use in a plethora of harsh environments, both offshore and onshore.  1XTech Type P Shipboard cables are available in power, control, instrumentation, communication, and VFD constructions.  All 1X Technologies Type P Cables are flame retardant, Mud-Resistant, and Fire-Resistant. 1XTech® Type P cable comes available as both unarmored or armored and sheathed. Additionally, we can add a double or triple jacket and even manufacture your armored Type P Cable within an additional heavy-duty galvanized steel armor for applications that require extreme durability to environmental stress. Double armored Type P is our specialty.

Below we will review more in-depth Type P Cable Uses per the NEC, including an Ampacity Chart, Manufacturer data sets, pricing/cost per foot, and more. We aim to be your most comprehensive Type P Cable Manufacturers/supplier information hub, helping you plan better and make better buying decisions when purchasing your Type P Cable.

Part I. General

337.1 Scope. This article covers the use, installation, and construction specifications for up through 2000 volt Type P cable (armored and unarmored).

337.2 Definition. The definition in this section shall apply within this article and throughout the Code.

Type P. Cable. A factory assembly of one or more insulated flexible tinned copper conductors, with associated equipment grounding conductor(s), with or without a braided metallic armor and with an overall nonmetallic jacket.

337.6 Listing Requirements. Type P cables and associated fittings shall be listed.

Part II. Installation

337.10 Uses Permitted. Type P cable shall be permitted to be used:

(1) Under engineering supervision in industrial installations where conditions of maintenance and supervision ensure that only qualified persons monitor and service the system.

(2) In hazardous (classified) locations where specifically permitted by other articles in this Code.

337.12 Uses Not Permitted. Type P cable shall not be installed or used:

(1) Where it will be exposed to physical damage

(2) Where not specifically permitted by other articles in the Code
